Just when we thought that the iPhone brand was the most expensive phone in the country comes this recently launched luxury hand-assembled mobile phone- the Vertu's Ascent. Apart from the sophisticated look, what sets the Vertu's Ascent apart from its peers is its use of aerospace-grade aluminum in the creation of the phone's full handset casing which is really ideal for the most eligible bachelors in the city.

The Ascent comes in two variants: The Ascent Aluminum and The Ascent Titanium. Both versions are made with meticulous processes-heat treatment with the parts anodized (this transforms the surface to become five times harder than the raw material), applying 860 degrees of heat, and putting on 630 tons of pressure on the metal to mold the material.

Today, phones are not just about the casing, and Vertu knows that. Ascent phones come with assisted GPS technology, are preloaded worldwide maps of more than 190 countries, and have up to 32GB of internal memory. They have a stopwatch, a high quality 5-MP camera with sapphire crstal lens and auto-focus, and a high-intensity LED flashlight.

To top all off, the Ascent phones offer several services specific to their users' busy and jet-setting lifestyle. Vertu offers a 'Concierge', a global online service that delivers the latest information, news, reviews, and exclusive downloads direct to the phone. The best part about this is that the service is tailored to the user's location. Complementing this, City Brief has been specifically commissioned by Vertu to give its client a digest of important travel information. This digest automatically adjust itself to the user's location and also give tips on local protocol.

Keeping all this secure, Vertu fortress automatically backs up all calendar and contact information in the Ascent to ultra-secure server maintained in an ex-military underground bunker in an undisclosed location in England. That's Luxury indeed.

The Ascent Aluminum goes for P309,000 while the Ascent Titanium is priced at P511,000. Both are exclusively distributed by Lucerne at Shangri-La EDSA.

Additional information:

Vertu is based in London and employ more than 200 highly-skilled craftsmen. Any precious metals used in the assembly are certified and stamped by the Swiss Assay Office. Only the finest leather is used, and according to their website, despite selecting only the best Northern European hides, up to 65% of every hide is rejected as being sub-standard.
